We need our own professional association, don't we?

Dear Colleagues! We have always thought it necessary and professionally motivating to have and participate in the workings of a professional association of English Langauge Teachers in our city. This is conceived as a public organization with a definite mission, aims and objectives, policies and philosophies with a view towards making positive changes in matters of foreign language teaching, professional development, raising intercultural awareness, national and international cooperation, cross-school support and training. We are inviting you to start an online discussion on the theme and express your attitudes and concerns, share knowledge and competence so that, in the end, we all will come up with a clear understanding of how the Association will work. We understand that it will take a lot of time to reach consensus and work out an action plan.

I agree with you that we need our own professional association. As for me , I think it will help me in my work. I have already learnt many interesting facts in different fields of teaching English.

Thanks, Margo for your interest and support. I believe that we will manage to set up the RELTA this year. I have not yet started working on the legal side of the project but I hope we will be a success. It's definite that our Online Community is a first step towards a real professional body.

At the Annual Foreign Language Teachers Conference on 29 April we will have an exchange of opinions about this new project. Hopefully there will gather a group of teachers who would like to support the idea.
