THE FIRST SEMINAR WENT WELL - YOUR HOME WORK
          Dear Netters!
The first seminar held yesterday at school 51 (Ryazan) went well. Twenty seven teachers attended the first session and leart how to open their own email accounts and get registered at forums and Internet sites in order to interact with other users. We also explored the new web site TeacherVoice for our online community. We received a positive reaction to the concept of the web site and its sections. There is definitely good understanding of the aims and tasks of our online project among the participants. We also agreed on some "homework" to be done regularly so that by the end of the school year everyone will have completed their individual Internet projects.
Our second seminar is due on Novermber 27 2009 at school 51.
          Homework for the second seminar:
    1) check whether your email accounts work well and send a trial message to v.kruchkov@rsu.edu.ru or i.trushkova@rsu.edu.ru
    2) get registered at www.en62.my1.ru  - you will be able to post messages in different sections of TeacherVoice.
    3) go through the site's sections and read the posted materials
    4) post your replies to or comments on the postings that you have found interesting and useful
    5) use any search engine (Google is a good one at www.google.com) and do searching in the Internet for web sites on Teaching English Grammar, look through the content of the chosen site, prepare an annotation to the site and send it to v.kruchkov@rsu.edu.ru or i.trushkova@rsu.edu.ru . When we have received your messages, we will look through them, edit if necessary and post them in the Useful Links and Resources section that you see on the left.
Let's join our efforts and knowledge to make our Online Community a successful project.

Dear А_Ле-ка! Thankx for your reply.
I have been checking the site all this time and now feel glad that it is beginning to show first signs of a real interactive FORUM.
Your speculations are quite right. On the one hand, unfortunately, teachers often lack enough time to get trained and fail to catch up with the fastmoving technologies and adapt them to their professional needs.
On the other hand, I must admit that there are many teachers are are resistant to change and often sneer at new technologies.
Still again, school teachers need time to internalize all of this and initiate new teaching methods and strategies. Our Internet Site TeacherVoice is a powerful strategy that will allow school teachers to look at all of this from the inside. We don't want you just to take a chance or give it a try! We want you to improve your professional knowledge and become well-trained, technology-wise teachers of English.
Finally, cybertechnologies and strategies of using them for teaching purposes bridge an ever-widening gap between the teacher and the pupil.
To conclude, I want to add - what we are doing all together is meant to bring along positive innovations and create a more involving communicative environment.
We do hope that we will bring off our project successfully.

I am one of the participants of this seminar. My first impressions let me think this workshop is sure to be a success. No doubts the course is up- to- date. We need knowledge and practice in the sphere of using the I-net in the teaching process because all our pupils are advanced users; they are in good terms with high technologies, many of them “live” in the net working, playing, interacting etc. Teachers have always been leaders, but here we are dilettantes or using computer terminology “chainics” (sorry I don’t know how to put it in English). biggrin And very often students consult us and help to overcome “computer” difficulties.
But at the same time our global task is to teach them to live in a society which is nowadays called “information” and act there successfully , effectively using its possibilities by themselves. How, if we are poor at information technologies ourselves? One of the ways of acquiring all the necessary skills is to attend this course. For sure we’ll gain a lot, as it is organized by real professionals and very creative people. Thank you very much.
