| www.ego4u.com also provides requirements for both formal and informal letters in its "Writing" section. You can also find all the necessary information in State Exam Maximiser or in Macmillan Exam Skills for Russia. They provide cliches you use in letter writing and tasks for your students to practise.

| Dear G@LiN@! You seem to be a very innovative and skilful teacher. Can I ask you to prepare a brief talk about the sites that you use at our next seminar? We will explore these site together with the others. By the way, are there any other teachers in your school who seem to be interested in using the Internet for EFL teaching? Are they willing to join our online community and participate in our discussins? Or are they all reluctant and resistant to the idea?

| I pay much attention to writing letters, as this kind of work is included in the EGE, I agree with Galina about useful books she has mentioned above. I also use them and drill writing as often as it is possible. Now I am going to invesrigate the sites mentioned above.

| I use New Opportunities to teach writing letters. The textbook has a detailed layout ( not only for personal letters but for writing a report or a film/ book review ) and useful vocabulary, linking words. There are examples of letters and many exerceses to prctice writing in the workbook.

| This school year I've decided to organize pen-pals' correspondence between the members of my different groups from different classes. I've matched boys with girls and they write letters to each other with great pleasure.

| Dear Tatmaks, do you give any writing format to your students to follow? What are the requirements for writing? Can you post a sample letter?

| Two years ago I organised swapping emails with American and Japanese children. It was the project " The Way We Are". I should say that activity took much time and energy but it was very useful and interesting . Certainly , my children read emails with pleasure but to write answers was much more difficult. So in this way we really improved writing English. PS I know how to write formal letters but I don't teach children to do it.
