Dear Friends! The word blogging is becoming increasingly popular in the EFL teaching community all over the world. What is blogging? Have you ever thought of using this technology? Have you got any experience?

I’ve already described my blogging experience in the section “Blogs”. Here are my first impressions of its “English life”.
1. It‘s not easy to make visitors of the blog leave comments. I have to forget about traditional homework and instead ask them to share their ideas on the blog’s material. It’s interesting if not surprising but they do not want marks for this written task.
2. It took my pupils about 3 weeks to get ready with the first part of comments and 2 days to prepare the second one. Promising, isn’t it? I was surprised at such speed.
3. There are pupils whose posts should be ‘controlled’. I don’t mean ideas, but language accuracy. The form should be discussed with such users before it appears in the blog. Not only the correction of mistakes but analysis. I spend too much time on it, more than I’ve planned, unfortunately. sad
4. The moderators of the blog (pupils of the11th form) upload the material made by pupils of the 7th form, asking for their permission. The younger kids feel VIPs, as if they had been awarded an Oscar. biggrin

Hi there! How did you decide to launch the blog with your pupils? What was the main stimulus? How do you do it on the daily basis? How does the lesson material get represented in the blog? What pupils write in the blog? Are they seniour pupils? Does everypone of your pupils have the right to post in the blog? Or do you allow doing it only the best pupils in class? How do you check their postings? Do you use their postings in your lessons?

Hello everyone!
My students have some experience of blogging too. Of course we are just beginners - we are learning while we are doing. I’m trying to help my students as far as my IT knowledge allows me to do it.
In my opinion blogging is a very convenient form of communication. As opposed to e-mailing it gives more freedom and variety for both students and teachers. Students can address their messages to a concrete person and to all the bloggers as well. Leaving comments they can choose the topic they are really interested in. It’s also a suitable variant for classrooms equipped with only one computer - students can work in blogs by turn.
Have a look at our blog: http://school72ryazan.blogspot.com/
We’ll be happy if you sign in and take part in some of our discussions. biggrin
